The TakeItBack Movement and the African Action Congress Declare Support for Labour Strike; Plans October 1 #March4LivingWage

The TakeItBack Movement and the African Action Congress (AAC) join masses of impoverished Nigerians in declaring unflinching support for improved national minimum wage.

The continuous payment of N18,000 to workers as minimum wage while the sleeping senators continue to amass 13.5million naira (allowances) monthly, isn’t only wicked but equally unacceptable and must be religiously resisted with all vehemence.

It is to this end that the TakeItBack Movement and the African Action Congress (AAC) declares Monday October 1st 2018 as a day of mass rally tagged: #March4LivingWage.

It should be recalled that Omoyele Sowore;  a presidential aspirant under the African Action Congress and Convener of the TakeItBack Movement, had maintained his solidarity with the poor working people for the past 3 decades, being a relentless advocate and fearless agitator for improved living wage and working condition. This, he has demonstrated both at the barricades and as Publisher of Sahara Reporters. It is no surprise that Omoyele Sowore is the ONLY presidential aspirant willing to pay workers a National LIVING wage of at least N100,000. Omoyele Sowore has always made this position public at every town hall engagements.

While President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet of oppressors and looters will be gathered at Aso Rock to talk down at Nigerians and raise their glasses in celebration of 58 years of plundering and stealing our collective wealth, the oppressed Nigerians organised under the spotless banner of the TakeItBack Movement and the African Action Congress  (AAC) would be gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park to protest the inhumane 58 years of casual labour, exploitation of workers, half-salaries, local/international slavery and massive brain drain hitting the Country’s labour force. We demand improved living wage as we keep mobilising Nigerians in all nooks and corners to take back our country from the gangsters who have succeeded in running the country only in favour of their bank accounts.
